Day 1 – Blogged by: Yu Xuan, Amanda, Crystal, Sophia, Lindsay, Jeslyn, Charran & Pierre

On board the plane, everyone’s faces were glowing with excitement. There was a variety of songs, movies and games. Most of us selected the movies. At about 4.30 a.m., the air stewardess served us breakfast. We were famished! We were given a choice of omelette or chicken noodles. We landed at about 6.15 a.m. The landing was horrible. As it was drizzling, the weather was a bit cold. Everyone was exclaiming that they wished Singapore had such weather as well.

When we exited the airport, we saw our coach. Our driver, Andrew, is a very nice and cheerful man. When he drove past any historical buildings, he would tell us about their history. We were then whisked off to the supermarket.

We went to Coles supermarket. There was a wide variety of things sold which were neatly arranged on the shelves. Everybody’s eyes were shining with excitement. Most of us went to the sweets and biscuits section. We began to talk about the things we should purchase and whether the things were costly. Everybody came out with big and small bags, and of course, a grinning face. We had so much fun!

After that, we went to Sci-Tech Discovery Centre. The teachers led us to the CSIRO Lab to conduct some interesting experiments. Before the teachers led us to the lab, we were wondering what interesting things were in store for us. We were elated to hear that we could bring some of our experiments home. The instructors welcomed us warmly and introduced themselves to us. They told us that we were going to make slime, wet as well as dry snow. When we were led to the dry snow station, we followed the instructions on a big sheet of paper. When we added water to a certain chemical, it puffed up like popcorn and dry snow was made. We can’t wait to show you our slime when we arrive in Singapore.

After an interesting hour in the lab, we were given an extra hour to roam around Sci-Tech to explore the different exhibitions. We tried many activities like the hot-air balloon, the energy zone and many others. Overall, we enjoyed ourselves greatly. We proceeded to the farm next.

When we reached the farm, we felt terribly cold and tired. The teachers and Ms Angeline, our tour agent, distributed the keys of the rooms. After a short briefing, we went to our rooms to settle down. After that, we went to the function room to have tasty dinner. After dinner, we had a short briefing. Then, we went back to our rooms to have a good rest on a good, solid bed.
